Every table, bench, and chair leaving our workshop on the Ångerman River is joined by hand — finger-joints, through-tenons, and dovetails, cut in FSC-certified pine and oak. No screws. No hidden glue seams. The joint is the ornament.

01 — Timber

Pine and oak, never further than 40 kilometres away.

We buy standing timber from three FSC-certified forests along the Ångerman valley and air-dry every board for a minimum of eighteen months in our open-sided timber shed before it touches a saw. Slow drying means less movement, tighter joints, and furniture that still closes flush a decade on.

02 — Joinery

The finger-joint is our signature, not a manufacturing detail.

Most furniture hides its joints under veneer or dowels. We cut ours proud and leave them exposed — a row of interlocking fingers at every corner, a wedged through-tenon at every leg. It takes four times longer than a biscuit joiner. It also means the piece can be taken apart, re-glued, and handed to a grandchild instead of a landfill.

04 — Care

Living with unfinished wood

We finish every surface with raw linseed oil, not lacquer, so scratches sand out and the wood keeps breathing. Here's what that means day to day.

Re-oil twice a year
A thin coat of raw linseed oil every spring and autumn keeps the grain sealed and deepens the honey tone pine takes on with age. Apply with a lint-free cloth, wipe off the excess after twenty minutes.
Lifetime joint warranty
Because every joint is mechanical, not glued alone, we can re-wedge or re-cut a loose tenon at any age. Ship the piece back to Ådalen and we'll repair the joint for the cost of timber and post only.
What happens at end of life
No metal fasteners and no synthetic glue means a Furu piece can be fully disassembled and either re-joined or composted as untreated softwood. We take back any piece we've made, at any age, for exactly this reason.

Questions before you order

How long does a made-to-order piece take?
Six to ten weeks depending on timber stock and queue length. The Ådalen table and Storsjön sideboard currently run closer to ten weeks; benches and stools ship in six.
Can dimensions be custom-cut?
Yes, within the limits of our air-dried stock. Tables can be shortened or lengthened in 10 cm increments; email us the room dimensions and we'll confirm what the current timber allows.
Do you ship outside Sweden?
We ship crated furniture across the Nordics and EU by freight. Transit adds one to three weeks and a customs note is included for non-EU deliveries.
What if a joint loosens after delivery?
Covered under the lifetime joint warranty above — send photos to [email protected] and we'll advise whether it needs a home fix (a light re-wedge) or a workshop visit.
